I had the idea to make a map based on the fact I couldn’t find one online! I have always been fascinated with map making and decided to make my own showing all the Camino paths that currently run through Spain and Portugal. Mapa de Caminos de España y Portugal Most pilgrims that arrive in Santiago will still have came via the Frances. ![]() The inspiration behind this map is to show pilgrims that there are many other routes other than the popular ones like the French Way. The Camino Frances of course starts in St Jean Pied de Port in France. There are over 50 routes on the map which start at all different points around Spain and Portugal. It was a labor of love to create and hope you have fun discovering the routes that you might not have known about. This, along with my posts, may start to sketch an image of why I chose to walk the Camino de Santiago Fall of 2021 and returned in 2023. I am a huge Bonhoeffer fan (Pastor, Prophet, Martyr, Spy). “ There is meaning in every journey that is unknown to the traveler” Why? And what does this look like?Īs you know I met many that have returned to Espana (Herr Lars from Germany 4+ times, Christina & Juaren (from France) 4+ times, and ‘the Dude’ 14 times!, most of the people I met in 2021 have already returned.…… (but just the same most of us ‘feel’ we are still on Camino, when back home……) ‘ The Call’ -to go back on Camino in Espana. I’ve felt ‘ the call’ to go back to Espana ever since first Camino in 2021 (and already feel the ‘nudge’ to finish my Norte Camino in the future). … and is documented before you get your Compostela. BTW, this question is asked of every Pilgrim in SJPP at the start before you get your Pilgrim Passaporte (called your ‘Credential’) and at the end of completing your Camino.
